Why is it used?

Adult: PO HT 40-80 mg/day. Initial edema: 20 mg / day. Max: 600 mg/day in severe cases. IV Pulmonary edema 40 mg, if response is inadequate within 1 hour, an additional 80 mg dose may be administered. Potentially Fatal: May cause severe hypotensive effects with ACE inhibitors. NSAIDs inhibit the effects of diuretics and antihypertensive drugs. Increased incidence of premature beats with cardiac glycosides.
